EXPERIMENT IN PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY
The students in première spécialité physics and chemistry are working on the amount of substance in chemistry by studying fun and colorful chemical transformations. Two reactions with different kinetics create surprising color changes!
The experiment consists of three parts. Solution A is made up of ascorbic acid and water. Solution B is composed of solution A with iodide ions, and solution C contains hydrogen peroxide and thiodene.
We mix solution B and C, and we observe that the liquid turns blue-black. Then, we add the rest of solution A: the solution becomes transparent before turning blue-black again.
